H&R Sportsman Model 999 Engraved in Case 1/999

This is a Harrington & Richardson Model 999 “The Sportsman” .22 LR 9-shot top-break revolver with a 6-inch barrel, adjustable rear sight, and checkered wood H&R medallion grips, produced as a modern commemorative rather than an antique firearm.

It is factory engraved with a floral scroll pattern and marked “1 of 999,” and it comes complete with its original wooden presentation case lined in red velvet along with an “International Exhibition” medallion marked “Awarded by United States Centennial Commission, Philadelphia MDCCCLXXVI (1876),” which references the Centennial Exhibition but does not indicate the gun was made in 1876.

The revolver is described as 100% mint and appears unfired, which, along with the complete case and medallion, places it in the upper tier of this model’s collector range; however, as with most H&R commemoratives, value is limited by brand demand rather than rarity.
